Use the Daniel chibi doll pattern for the arms to finish the sweater. Making the sleeves is simply a change of color or two and leaving out the stripes. Everything else remains the same in the pattern. You can make one arm differ from the other by adding a watch band in dark brown. Either arm therefore includes a color change in Round 5.
Rnd 5 of the arm: in the 2nd decrease (dec), switch to dark brown for arm 1 and to the sweater color for arm 2. Continue with pattern instructions. For arm 1 only, in the last sc of Rnd 6 switch to the sweater color. Finish the remaining rounds in the sweater color for both arms.
No color changes in rounds 8 & 10.
Note: when sewing the arms to the TORSO round 25 is no longer an option due to the addition of a collar. Instead, sew them to round 24.
Continued from Part 3, the previous post, here is How To Add A Collar:
8) working in the back loops only for Rd25, sc-blo the entire round.
No changes to Rd26 except use sweater color
Note: the next row is not in the Daniel pattern Sweater Collar:
Start a row of double crochet stitches to make a collar as follows. Begin at the middle of the chest in Rd25 of the Torso. Working in the front loops only (flo), attach yarn to a front loop at the middle of the front chest. Ch2, dc-flo in the next sc and the remaining 28sc. For a 2nd row: ch2, turn, hdc in the next stitch and the remaining 28dc. Fasten off and weave in the yarn tails.
Here is yet another tip to get more out of your Daniel chibi doll pattern. If you read my last blog post that was Part 1 How to make a shoe with the Daniel chibi doll pattern. This is Part 2, the continuation where we left off. (For Leg#1) 1) Change to medium brown in the last stitch of RD 5.
2) For Rd6 of the Leg use the back loops only (15sc-blo). This is the only change to upgrade Leg #1. When you finish Rd11 fasten off.
3) For Leg#2: Repeat the shoe changes for the 2nd shoe. Change color as before at the end of Rd5. Work in the back loops only for Rd6 of Leg#2.
4) Continue until you reach the last stitch of Rd11 then start the Torso Rd12. In the last stitch of Rd12 change to the sweater color (royal blue in the photo).
For next time, Rd13 work in the back loops only (to continue the sweater)
If you haven't tried this on your own already, here's a tip for upgrading your Daniel Chibi Doll Pattern.
1) Make a Shoe sole:
Starting with the first two rounds of the Foot, substitute white yarn for brown. (Remember to use two strands with a 7mm hook.) In the last sc of RD 2 change the yarn color to dark red.
2) Finish the shoe
For RD 3 work in the back loops only, '-blo', 25sc-blo.
No changes to the pattern for RD 4-5, except using dark red. In the last sc in RD 5 change to medium brown (to be continued ).
Sometimes when the holidays roll around you are just not sure what they will bring. I believe that my season is changing for the best. There is not much time left to make amigurumis in time for the holidays. I was so excited to get a special request. It's a privilege when you begin to do special things for people. I am truly blessed by this one.
The character request is for a super adorable character from the PBS Series "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood". His name is Tigey. It's funny, because Tigey is not necessarily a main character. 4-year old Daniel Tiger is the son of the original Daniel Striped Tiger from Mister Roger's Neighborhood. He carries around a stuffed animal tiger. This request is from a 3-year boy. I think that's why I wanted to blog about it. I get custom requests but there is something so special about this one to me.
It's so funny that his name is Tigey! The greatest feature that I like about Tigey is the shape of his face. I am all about kawaii! Let this amigurumi adventure begin.
