Revisiting old patterns has brought forth a new beach outfit for Daniel. Here's a new outfit in progress for the Chibi Dolls in my shop. The top is derived from his sweater pattern.

I shall now revisit one of my published crochet patterns for an updated perspective. I realize that yarn colors can disappear over time in terms of availability. For example, the main colors in the Daniel Tiger Chibi Doll pattern, Red Heart Super Saver in Warm Brown and Bernat Super Value in Topaz seem obsolete. So, they must be substituted. It has turned into a scavenger hunt to find either of them. So, I have decided to try I Love This Yarn brand from Hobby Lobby in the colors Sungold and Cinnamon.
November 2024 Chenille Challenge Final Results: Juicy Couture Velvet Plush
New project for plush yarns 2024 Q4:
Juicy Couture yarn is sold at Joann Fabric in Daniel Tiger's gold. I wanted to try it first before the other brands because the look is luxurious. The sweater is red and the tiger stripes brown. I used Just Chenille and Bernat Baby Velvet respectively.
I have high hopes that the request for Jodi in plush chenille yarn will be liked by the 'challenger'. This idea took me far out of a comfort zone of basic yarn into a trending one. Very velvety and easy on the fingers, I think it works up nicely as long as the parts are not too small. My last hug and farewell as Jodi travels to her new home on the West coast.
.
I am not regretting this gift of a challenge. This type of yarn is very squishy soft and appealing. The brands that I ended up testing this time are Bernat Baby Velvet in Chocolate, Greige and Boy Blue, and Premier Just Chenille in 3 different colors for her outfit. I used my very own Jodi crochet pattern which is sold online. So far, I have to say that the chocolate looks yummy.
The Velvet Yarn Strikes Again! In a prior post I gave up on this yarn challenge. Still, I noticed that plush velvet yarn was getting really popular. I have to go to bat again because I took a custom request for it. Let's try Jodi Platypus this time around. Well, yarn shopping is usually the best part!

Chenille Mystery Solved: A Challenge Fail
It's time to give up on this chenille challenge! It has become too difficult to crochet the small parts such as the feet. It's the mysterious case of, Why can't I see the stitches? Making the head was already a challenge. But it was manageable as the photo shows. Although I have used chenille before in a different brand it was not as much of a challenge as this time. So, I have concluded that working with thicker chenille must be the problem. Chenille amigurumi has become very popular recently. While the result is cute and plushie, I can no longer stand working with it. It's just one of those things you know (Either choose torture or relax).
